Nigerian Document Legalization for Oman
Oman has no embassy in Nigeria. First obtain Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs authentication. Then ask the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs which Omani embassy handles Nigerian documents and whether further attestation or legalization is required. The steps below explain what to confirm before sending documents.
What Oman actually requires
Obtain the document from the appropriate Nigerian authority and complete any verification, certification or notarization required for that type of document. Then obtain Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs authentication if the Omani recipient requires it.
Oman’s Foreign Ministry now provides attestation through Oman Post. Nigeria is not on the current overseas electronic-service country list, so do not assume that a Nigeria-based online application is available. Confirm whether a non-resident Omani mission or an Oman-side Oman Post submission will handle the document.
Ask the Omani receiving authority whether the particular document needs Arabic translation, which translator it accepts, and whether translation should be completed before or after attestation.
